Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a cast iron skillet put the tablespoon of oil and set skillet in oven.
Mix the corn meal and flour. Slowly pour the milk into the mixture until batter consistency. Finally take the cast iron skillet out and pour the heated oil into the corn meal and flour batter and blend well. Then pour the batter into the skillet and return to the oven for 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool for two or more minutes before removing the corn bread cake onto a serving tray or dish. Serve with butter if desired.
