Bring 1 1/2 cups of water to a boil. Pour in the Red Hots and boil until melted. Remove pan from heat and add in 1 1/2 cups cold water and the chopped apples. Refrigerate until thickened but not completely gelled.
Add walnuts, pushing into the jello until covered. Return back to the refrigerator until set....
Serve and enjoy. If you can't find Black Cherry Jello, cherry works just as well.
