This came from a coworker's wife, where my husband worked. At their Christmas party, I asked for the recipe. This was about 35-40 yrs. ago! Still a popular recipe, after all this time.

Ingredients For easy party meatballs

  • ******MEATBALLS******
  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 lg
    onion, grated
  • 1 lg
    egg, slightly beaten
  • salt, to taste
  • ********SAUCE********
  • 1 bottle
    (12 oz.) chili sauce
  • 1 jar
    (10 oz.) grape jelly
  • 1 md
    lemon, juiced

How To Make easy party meatballs

    Up to 2 days ahead, combine all ingredients. Make into small meatballs. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line baking sheet with aluminum foil, top with a rack. Place meatballs on rack over baking sheet, & bake 15-17 minutes. Remove from oven. If not using right away, cool them & refrigerate or freeze meatballs in an airtight container.

    When ready to serve, thaw meatballs, if frozen. I use the microwave on defrost. Then, mix sauce ingredients together in saucepan, simmering for 10 minutes. Add meatballs, and simmer, until heated through. Or, do the same in a slow cooker, adding more time. Serve on cocktail picks. Serve some crackers on the side.
