Debby's StoryThis sauce is really good on ribs or chicken. I don't like liquid smoke myself so I never add it to the sauce. It keeps really well in the fridge for a long time.
Similar to Kansas City BBQ sauce - spicy and a bit sweet.
You can adjust the heat to your taste by increasing or decreasing the amount of cayenne pepper.
ground black pepper
peeled and thinly sliced medium onion (i sometimes use 1 tbsp. dried, minced onion instead)
liquid smoke flavoring (optional)
1Mix first 10 ingredients in a saucepan.
2Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
3Add remaining ingredients and heat to boiling.
4Can be cooled and kept in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks until ready to use.
