With Thanksgiving approaching I wanted to share a recipe for gravy that we have used for many years. It was published in a Boulder, CO newspaper.

We always double the recipe.

Stove Top

Ingredients

1/4 c
roasted garlic
1 Tbsp
diced carrot
1/4 Tbsp
honey
2 oz
all purpose flour
1 Tbsp
diced yellow onions
1 Tbsp
diced celery
1/2 c
unsalted butter
1 qt
chicken stock
salt and pepper to taste

Directions Step-By-Step

IN A SAUCEPAN USE 4 TABLESPOONS BUTTER AND SWEAT ONION, CARROT, AND CELERY UNTIL TRANSLUCENT

ADD GARLIC AND HONEY, REMAINING BUTTER AND FLOUR

COOK UNTIL THE FLOUR IS GOLDEN BROWN

ADD STOCK AND BRING TO A BOIL

TURN HEAT TO SIMMER FOR 1 HOUR, WHISKING EVERY 15 MINUTES

IF CONSISTENCY GETS TOO THICK, ADD WARM WATER OR STOCK TO KEEP DESIRED CONSISTENCY

USE HAND MIXER AND PULSE GRAVY WHILE SIMMERING TO BLEND VEGETABLES WELL

ADD SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE AND SERVE
