This is the recipe I have been making for a long time - don't remember exactly where I got it- I think it was my Aunt Martha.

Ingredients

1 c
fresh or canned mushrooms
4 Tbsp
butter or margarine
3 Tbsp
all purpose flour
1 1/2 c
milk or beef stock
1/2 tsp
salt
1/8 tsp
nutmeg
1/8 tsp
pepper
2 large
egg yolks, beaten
2 tsp
lemon juice

Directions Step-By-Step

Brown mushrooms in butter; add flour and blend. Add milk or stock, salt, pepper,and nutmeg; cook until thick. Stir slowly into the beaten egg yolks and add lemon juice; cook, stirring constantly until thick, about 2 minutes. Serve hot.

You can use water, milk,stock, cream or sour cream for the liquid milk or beef stock or a combination of of these.
