Ingredients

2 c
whole milk, at room temperature
2 Tbsp
butter
2 Tbsp
flour
to taste
salt and pepper

Step-By-Step

1Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium,
2Whisk in the flour and cook for a minute. Be sure it doesn't brown.
3Slowly whisk in the milk.
4Raise the temperature and continue whisking until it starts to thicken. About 5 minutes.
5Add the salt and pepper to taste.
6I use about 1/2 teaspoon salt and a generous amount of pepper.
