Candle Caution

The harmful nature of paraffin wax candles. This is by far the most
Common type of candle and it's most likely the type you have at
Home. Paraffin wax candles are made from petroleum byproducts and
Emit toxins (Toleune, Benzene, Formaldehyde, and others) and soot
(just as dangerous as second hand smoke) as they burn, which can be
Very harmful to your health. Toleune and Benzene are known to be
Carcinogenic, or cancer causing. I haven't seen too many arguments
In favor of paraffin candles, other than the lower cost, so I steer
Completely clear of them and so should you.

Another type of candle is Beeswax. These candles contain no
Carcinogens or toxins and burn much longer and cleaner than their
Paraffin counterparts. The fact that they burn longer helps to
Offset their higher cost. So, you're not really spending as much as
You might think, since you will get much more use out of the same
Sized Beeswax candle. One of the other great things about Beeswax
Candles is that when you burn them they emit negative ions into the
Air, which actually help to clean the air around you. How's that for
A healthy candle?

Another popular type of candle is Soy based. Like Beeswax candles,
Soy burns longer than paraffin and does not contain any carcinogens
Or toxins. Soy has the added benefit of being completely
Biodegradable and water soluble.

One thing you need to be aware of with both Beeswax and Soy candles
Is that you must examine the label to make sure they are 100%
Beeswax or Soy. A candle doesn't have to be 100% Beeswax or Soy for
The manufacturer to call it that. With cheaper products, they will
Often give you a candle that is 50% Soy and 50% paraffin, or some
Variation of that. Please examine the label and make sure the candle you choose is 100%
