air fryer salmon

We just love how nicely the salmon cooks in the air fryer. It cooks fast and does not heat up the kitchen. You get nice crispy top and edges but the meat is tender and moist - the perfect combination. If you want a crispy skin, move the salmon off of the parchment paper for the last 5 minutes or so of cook time. We eat it just the way it comes out of the air fryer but feel free to add an aioli or a drizzle of citrus or even some tartar sauce or malt vinegar.

Ingredients For air fryer salmon

  • 1/2 lb
    fresh salmon
  • 2 tsp
low sodium soy sauce ** see note
  • 1 tsp
    canola oil
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt - optional
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp
    smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp
dill weed - or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp
    finely snipped chives

How To Make air fryer salmon

  • 1
Note: If you prefer you can use Tamari sauce or regular soy sauce in the emulsion. Just be careful of how salty the salmon will be.
  • 2
    Preheat air fryer to 390.
  • 3
Rinse and dry the salmon with paper towels. Cut a piece of parchment paper large enough to hold the salmon but small enough to fit flat in the air fryer. Lay the salmon skin side down onto the parchment paper.
  • 4
In a small bowl whisk the soy sauce and oil until you have an emulsion. In another small bowl whisk together the spices.
  • 5
Brush the top of the salmon with the soy sauce emulsion then sprinkle liberally with the spice mixture.
  • 6
Carefully lift the salmon on the parchment paper and place into basket of air fryer. Cook at 390 for 12 - 15 minutes depending on thickness of salmon.
  • 7
Carefully remove from air fryer and place onto cutting board. Cut into 2 pieces, garnish with snipped chives and serve hot.
