This has now become my new 'go to' pulled pork recipe! Its got a perfect sweet and smokey flavor! This sandwich even tastes great cold! Thats the way I ate it for lunch today! I found this recipe on the internet, but I'm posting it with my changes. The photo is my own.

Ingredients

4 lb
pork shoulder - boneless, trimmed
2 large
onions - sliced
2 large
cloves garlic - chopped
1/2 tsp
liquid smoke flavoring
1 c
ginger ale soda
1 - 18 oz
bottle of sweet baby ray's barbecue sauce
salt and pepper

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Place half of the sliced onions and all the garlic, on the bottom of the crockpot.
2
Season the pork on all sides with salt and pepper. Place it ontop of the onions in the crockpot.
3
Add the other half of the sliced onions ontop of the pork.
4
Mix the ginger ale and liquid smoke together and pour over the pork. Cover and cook on high for 3 hours. Then turn the pork over and cook on high for another 3 hours.
5
Then remove pork and drain off all the liquid from the crockpot, leaving the onions. Shred the pork and remove all the lumps of fat from the meat.
6
Return the shredded pork to the crockpot with the onions. Stir in 18 ozs. of barbecue sauce. Cook on high for 1 - 2 more hours.
7
Serve warm on kaiser rolls.

This pulled pork freezes very well and this recipe easily doubles!

I printed this recipe out when it was first posted and have had rave reviews. I made 20 pounds of pork like this for my brother-in-laws 60th birthday party. My daughter-in-law requests this often. I stop before adding the barbeque sauce. I have a collection of many types of barbecue sauce and let everyone flavor their pork as they see fit. Parties, or family meals this is such a winner I panicked when I couldn't find my recipe. Do you have anything higher than 5 stars?

Oh my! My husband made this today and it just got done, except finishing it up in the BBQ sauce. The meat is so tender and moist. Normally, I have to have ketchup or BBQ sauce when I eat any kind of meat, but really this pulled pork is so good that I almost didn't want him to put anything on it. We love Baby Ray's, but all we had on hand was KC Masterpiece and Big Moe's BBQ sauce. We are using those to finish cooking it in, but really, you don't need anything...it's THAT good!!!!
