Susan's Notes:

I recently had "keilbasa Chips" at a party , served with a sweet and sour sauce. What a great flavor combination! So, I created this recipe to try to duplicate that great combination of flavors... sweet, sour, garlic and "smoke" from the smoked sausage. This recipe really works well using shrimp or chicken! Hope you'll enjoy it!

Directions

1
Heat oil in a 12-inch non-stick skillet over medium high heat. Add sausage slices and cook until slices are browned around the edges, about 10-12 minutes. Remove from pan, cover and keep warm.
2
To the same pan, add the green pepper, red pepper, onion, garlic and water chestnuts. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring often, until crisp-tender.
3
Meanwhile, in a medium size bowl, combine the reserved pineapple juice, cornstarch, corn syrup, vinegar, soy sauce and ketchup. Mix well to incorporate cornstarch. Pour into skillet with vegetables. Cook for 4-5 minutes until thickened and heated through. Add the pineapple chunks, browned sausage and sesame oil. Mix well. Cook an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
4
Serve over rice.

Susan, this looks sooooo good. I love Smoked Sausage and Sweet and Sour Chicken and Pork. I never in a million years would have associated sweet and sour with Smoked Sausage. What a treat this will be. Thank goodness, something different to try. So tired of the same old dinners. Thank you so much for posting this wonderful idea. I will be making this little item very soon.

OMG! This was fabulous... I could not believe how much we loved it. So easy to make and so tasty. I was so excited to try it I forgot to take a picture. Guess what? Too late! It is all gone. I think I will try with chicken next time. Thank you Susan, once again it was wonderful. I wouldn't change a thing about it.

Oh wow, Barbara Allen!!!! You're getting me all excited, over here in PA!!!! SO glad you liked it!!! I tried it with chicken .... before I added the chicken, I cut it into bite size pieces, dredged it in cornstarch and then I browned it in oil ....... then added to the fruit and sauce .... you may have to add a little more pineapple juice this way, but it made it taste more like what you get in a Chinese restaurant ...... Thanks, so much for the great rating and for the awesome feedback!!
