I found this recipe in my local newspaper last year and made this New Years eve..my husband loved it..

You can use Sausage or Kielbasi..I used Kielbasi and I used Barvarian Kraut..soooo good!

Ingredients

1
tube refrigerated pizza crust, or i use homemade
1 to 1 /4 lb
bulk sausage, or i have used kielbasi
1 c
chopped onion
1 1/2 tsp
fennel seed, divided
1 tsp
oregano
1 tsp
dried basil
1 clove
garlic, minced
2 c
shredded mozzarella cheese or i used shredded swiss cheese
1 - 15 oz
can pizza sauce, i use delgrosso pepperoni flavor
1 - 14 1/2 oz
can italian diced tomatoes, drained
1 - 14 oz
can sauerkraut, drained well, i used barvarian
1/4 c
parmesan cheese

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven at 450°.

Press pizza dough onto a lightly greased 14-in. round pizza pan. Sprinkled with cornmeal.

Bake for 4 minutes. Set aside.

In a large skillet, cook the sausage or kielbasi, onion, 1 teaspoon fennel seed, oregano, basil, and garlic until the sausage is no longer pink and onion is tender. Drain.

Sprinkle crust with 1/2 cup Mozzarella or Swiss cheese.

Spread with pizza sauce, sausage mixture, tomatoes, sauerkraut, and remaining fennel seed and mozzarella.

Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Bake for 18-20 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting.

    I just have to say, "WHAT??" But once I looked it over, I thought, "Hmmm--yeah, this could be very good!" Just gotta take a minute to wrap my mind around it, Cass--lol! I mean, I love all the ingredients and, hey, you didn't even spoil it with mushrooms! Way to go!

    Pinched! My favorite pizza is the Happy Joe's Special, which is a sauerkraut and Canadian bacon pizza and it is absolutely fabulous. Can't wait to try this but will probably swap out the sausage for diced Canadian bacon. Your recipe sounds wonderful and I can't wait to try it.

    Lol! Miss Ellen...you need to broaden your horizons..ha ha!! I tell my kids that all the time. If you like kraut and sausage, kielbasi, or as Melissa said Canadian bacon..you should love this. I know the first time I had it I thought the same..it really is delicious..you better try it girl..LOL!! Btw...mushrooms are good for you..I love them, my kids pick them off of everything, but I won't refrain from using them. If I had to just cook their kind of food, my cooking would be limited. They have learned to adapt.

    It is good isn't it? The Canadian bacon is a great idea, I will try it..I love Canadian bacon . I hope you try it. Please let me know what you think. Like with any other pizza... you can always add what you like, take away what you don't..thanks for the feedback..Cass

    Have you ever substituted something for the pizza sauce, such as thousand island salad dressing or alfredo sauce?
