GERMAN PORK CHOPS BAKED

Ingredients

1 lb
sauerkraut, rinsed, drained
1/2 c
brown sugar
4
pork chops
2 medium
onions, thinly sliced
2 medium
tart green apples, peeled, cored and sliced
4 small
celery stalks, sliced
3 c
pale ale
1/2 tsp
fennel seeds
1/2 tsp
cinnamon
1/2 tsp
cloves
1/2 c
dry sherry

Step-By-Step

1Heat oven to 350 degrees.
2Spread drained sauerkraut evenly over bottom of
9 x 13 inch baking pan.
3Sprinkle with brown sugar; add pork chops in a single layer.
4Toss together sliced onions, apples and celery in medium bowl.
5Spread evenly over pork chops.
6Add beer.
7Combine fennel seeds, cinnamon and cloves in small bowl.
8Sprinkle over vegetables.
9Cover pan with foil.
10Bake 1 1/2 hours.
11Remove foil; pour sherry over chops.
12Continue to cook, uncovered, 30 minutes.
13Serve with boiled potatoes or spaetzle.
