The peppered mushroom gravy in this recipe is creamy, savory, and filled with mushrooms. Thyme adds a comforting flavor. Once the steak tips simmer, they're tender and juicy. Serve over a bed of egg noodles for an easy, yet tasty dinner your entire family will enjoy.

Ingredients For steak tips with peppered mushroom gravy

  • 2 c
    uncooked egg noodles
  • 1 lb
    top sirloin, cut into 3/4 inch pieces
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 2 Tbsp
    finely chopped shallots
  • 8 oz
    pre-sliced baby portobello mushrooms
  • 1 tsp
    minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 3 Tbsp
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 c
    fat-free, low-sodium beef broth
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 3 sprig
    thyme

How To Make steak tips with peppered mushroom gravy

  • Draining cooked egg noodles.

    Cook the egg noodles according to the package, omitting salt and fat; drain.
  • Cooking steak tips in a skillet.

    Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Coat the pan with cooking spray. Add the steak and saute for 5 minutes, browning on all sides. Remove the steak from the pan and cover to keep warm.
  • Preparing mushroom gravy in a skillet.

    Melt the butter in the pan. Add the shallots and the mushrooms and saute for about 4 minutes. Add the garlic and soy sauce. Stir in the flour and allow to brown about 1 minute. Gradually add the broth, stirring constantly. Add the pepper, salt, and thyme sprigs. Bring to boil; cook 2 minutes or until thickened.
  • Beef returned to the gravy.

    Return the beef to pan to cook thoroughly. Remove and discard the thyme sprigs.
