Cat's Favorite Pasta Sauce

This recipe has been a stapel in my family for the past 32 years. I've served it routinely for dinner parties. It's been such a success that it now has become a stapel in my friends homes in Florida and Arizona for the past 30 years! To make this vegetarian just leave out the ground beef and it taste just as good, I've made this both ways.

Ingredients

2 lb
ground beef
1 medium
onion, chopped
1 medium
green pepper, chopped
1/4 c
mushrooms, sliced (more if desired)
2 can(s)
tomato sauce (15oz)
2 can(s)
tomato paste (12oz)
2 pkg
italian-style spaghetti sauce mix
3 c
water
1 Tbsp
sugar
1 tsp
oregano
2 clove
garlic, minced
1 small
bay leaf

Directions Step-By-Step

In a large stock pot, cook and stir ground beef until no longer pink. Drain off excess fat. Add onion, green pepper and mushrooms; saute until tender. Stir in remaining ingredients.

Simmer 1 1/2 - 2 hours over medium-low heat.
