Ingredients For fried chile cheese

  • 1 - 12 oz
    queso fresco cheese
  • 1 md
    jalapeno pepper, rinsed
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    adobo seasoning
  • 1/4 c
    olive oil, light + more for dipping

How To Make fried chile cheese

    Cut cheese round into 8 equal wedges; then cut each wedge lengthwise to, but not through, outer edge.

    Cut jalapeno in 1/2 & remove seeds; finely chop.

    Stuff each cheese wedge with 1/2 tsp jalapeno; then press wedge halves together to close.

    Preheat large saute pan on medium high heat. In a small bowl, combine flour & adobo; mix well. Coat cheese wedges with flour mixture; shaking off excess.

    Add oil to pan. Add wedges; cook 15 - 30 seconds each side or until rich golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve with additional oil for dipping.
