Arroz Con Gandules

This is a recipe that my Grandma makes for Spanish Rice, granted mine is not like hers it is pretty dang close!! And to include my Puerto Rican touch, I add a tad bit more ingedients.
bacon or 1/2 cup of ham ( chopped)
green pepper, chopped
1 (15oz) can(s)
goya green pigeon peas (undrained)
sazon goya con cilantro y achiote (found in the spanish section.)
1Heat large skillet over medium heat. Add bacon, onions, and peppers.Cook for 3 minutes.( I also a pimentos/olives for flavor.)
2Stirin garlic and cook another 2 minutes longer. Add remaining ingredients except rice. Bring to a boil.
3Stir in rice, cover. REduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is tender. Serves 8.
