My sister got this recipe from a co-worker many years ago. It is so good, that we make this all the time for our families, and serve it to guests at parties. It is always a hit.

It is easy, and delicious. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Ingredients

16oz box

28oz can(s)
crushed tomatoes
28oz can(s)
whole tomatoes in tomato sauce
6-8 slice
prosciutto, cut into bite size pieces
1 large
onion, chopped
1 c
heavy cream
1/4 c
vodka
1 tsp
each, salt, pepper, basil or to taste
olive oil
1 Tbsp
butter
parmesan cheese to taste

Step-By-Step

1Cover bottom of a large skillet with a thin layer of olive oil. Saute onion in oil until lightly browned.
2In separate skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter and saute prosciutto until lightly browned (be careful not to burn it).
3When onion is browned, add both cans of tomatoes, vodka, salt, pepper, and basil. Bring to a low boil.
4Add heavy cream, and mix well. Add prosiutto with butter at this time. Check seasonings, and you can add a little more vodka if you want.
5Cover pan, and allow sauce to simmer on low for 1 hour.
6Meanwhile, cook penne pasta according to package directions, and combine with vodka sauce and parmesan cheese when sauce is done.

Enjoy!!
