I don't remember how this recipe got it's beginnings, but it is a family & friends favorite. My dad is almost 90 years old and still loves this.I buy a large ham shank & pork loin, cut them up and grind the meat myself since I have my own grinder. This will usually be enough meat for about 6 loafs, the extras are frozen and given to family.
Combine ham, pork, eggs,milk,& crackers.Mix together,put into a 9"x13" baking dish.
Flatten mixture out in the dish, then form into a loaf leaving about 1" around all sides.
Place in preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. While meat is baking, combine topping ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a boil while stirring, then remove from heat.
Remove meat from oven after 45 minutes, remove any excess grease, pour topping over meat, place back in oven for another 45 minutes, baste ocassionally. If top is getting too brown, place a piece of foil on dish.Remove from oven, let sit for 5-10 minutes before slicing.Enjoy!
