For those who don’t already know, a Frito Pie is basically just corn chips (preferably Frito’s) slathered in chili and cheese. Both San Antonio Texas and Santa Fe New Mexico claim to have invented this dish, but they’re both wrong. Frito pie was created by the Frito Lay Test kitchens (first called Frito Chili Pie) & was first served in Dallas Texas in 1949. Another essential of a Texas Frito Pie is the addition of jalapeño peppers, this bows to that tradition. It’s a heartwarming, explosion of flavors & heat that just screams Texas. Ingredients
- 8 - beef franks (or franks of your choice)
- 2 cups frito's corn chips (regular sized)
- 32 ounces of your favorite no-bean chili
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 - hot dog buns
- - chopped onions and sliced jalapeños, as garnish
How To Make frito pie dogs

Step 1Cook hot dogs and heat chili.

Step 2Place about 1/4 cup of corn chips on hot dog bun.

Step 3Add cooked franks.

Step 4Pour over about 2 Tablespoons chili.

Step 5Top with cheese, onions and jalapeños.

Step 6Serve immediately with a good cold beer or soda.
