Ingredients For shrimp hush puppies

  • 1 x lg
    egg
  • 3/4 c
    beer
  • 1 c
    self rising cornmeal
  • 2 1/2 c
    self rising flour
  • 3/4 c
    buttermilk
  • 4 lg
    shrimp, peeled, deveined, tails off, cooked, minced
  • 1 lg
    onion, diced
  • 1/2 c
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • vegetable oil
  • SERVE WITH:
  • sour cream
  • ranch dressing

How To Make shrimp hush puppies

  • 1
    Mix all ingredients (except oil) together; mix well. Chill for 1 hour.

    Heat oil in deep fryer to 350 degrees F.

    Drop by tsp into hot oil (a few at a time, not to crowd) until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

    Serve with sour cream or ranch dressing with fried fish! Mmmmmmm!
