Women's World magazine (except they called it "Fat Flush Soup"). To me that didn't sound so appitizing, so I changed it to "Slimming Vegetable Soup".

It sounds simular to the "Cabbage Soup Diet".

olive oil, extra virgin
1 1/4 lb
lean ground beef, turkey or shredded chicken
1 large
onion, chopped
2 clove
garlic, chopped
1 small
bell pepper, seeded & chopped
8 oz
mushrooms, fresh, chopped
1 - 14 oz. can(s)
tomatoes, crushed
1 - 32 oz. bottle
v-8 juice, reduced-sodium
1 Tbsp
lemon juice, fresh
1 - 14 oz. can(s)
beans, rinsed & drained (it doesn't state what kind of beans - i would use kidney or garbanzo)
1 Tbsp
cumin, ground
1/8 tsp
cayenne pepper, or to taste
1/4 c
cilantro, fresh, chopped
1/4 c
parsley, fresh, chopped

Directions Step-By-Step

In a stockpot, heat oil over medium-high heat. Saute meat/poultry until cooked through, about 5 minutes. Drain & set aside.
Saute onion, garlic, bell pepper & mushrooms until soft, about 5 minutes.
Stir in remaining ingredients, except cilantro & parsley. Cover & simmer 20 minutes. Stir in cilantro & parsley. Cover, simmer 10 minutes longer. Store soup in frige up to 5 days. Freezes well.

LEAN GROUND BEEF, TURKEY OR CHICKEN: Protein not only boosts post-meal metabolism by 25% & stimulates production of fat-burning hormones, it has also been shown to dramatically reduce appitite!

    I actually made this last week and it's really good. I did leave out the cilantro, we don't care for it. Used dried parsley, and a combo of tomato juice, home canned tomatoes, home canned salsa jucie, green and white lima beans, it looked a little empty so I added a can of mixed veggies. I don't know if I ruined the fat flushing aspect of it, but like you I thought that was a horrible name. The husband said that was good, can you make it again? We'll see. He only ate it cuz I just called it veggie soup.

    What kind of beans did you use?
    I want to try it again with chicken.

    LOL! I haven't made it time I go shopping. I think I will use garbanzo beans since I have them already. But I can always experiment.

    I think it would be good with virtually any kind of bean, but you'd want to rinse black beans really well. I rinse all canned beans well, to reduce the salt content.
