Directions Step-By-Step

For broth, melt butter in dutch oven. Whisk in flour. It will be thick. Gradually whisk in broth. Bring to a boil. Add dumpling strips to boiling broth. Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer 15 min.

Chicken and Dumplings is one of my favorite comfort foods, but I have never been brave enough to try making it. This sounds easy and may give me the confidence I need to try it. Thanks for posting!

I always felt the same way. Some recipes are pretty involved. I just use boneless chicken breast and boil for 15-20 min. I really is a pretty easy recipe. Give it a try...I don't think you'll be disappointed. You really can't mess up the dumplings...if you don't have enough chicken broth...water or milk will work fine too.

Does the Chicken broth alone give this enough chicken flavor?? I have added some Chicken bouliun, or soup base to mine to get the intense flavor, I have used the chicken breasts also, but the Whole chicken when I boiled it gave it much more flavor. Its like our chickens have no flavor these days. I like chicken and Noodles or Dumplings also. Will try this. I can always add more seasonings. Thanks for the easy dumplings. I've never used the self rising flour. I've alwasy done mine the HARD WAY.
