We love fried rice! This is a quick and easy version.

With simple ingredients and a few easy steps, you can make the best fried rice. Onions and garlic are cooked in sesame oil and soak up the sesame flavor. Peas and carrots add a touch of sweetness and another layer of flavor. We opted for chicken when testing. But add your favorite protein, and you have a complete meal. A trick to make delicious fried rice is to add the rice while the egg is slightly wet. We'll be making this easy fried rice recipe again and again.

Ingredients For better than take-out fried rice

  • 4 c
    rice, prepared
  • 1/2 lb
    boneless chicken breast, cooked and cut into bite-size pieces or use the same amount of medium-size shrimp cooked
  • 1 c
    peas and carrots, frozen
  • 1 md
    white onion, chopped
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 3 Tbsp
    sesame oil
  • 1/4 c
    soy sauce

We used classic jasmine rice for this recipe. 2 cups of dry rice is about 4 cups cooked.
  • Cooked white rice.

    Prepare rice according to package instructions to yield 4 cups of cooked rice.
  • Sesame oil heating onion, garlic, peas, and carrots.

    Heat sesame oil in a large skillet on medium heat. Add onion, garlic, peas, and carrots. Stir fry until tender.
  • Scrambling in an egg.

    Crack eggs into pan. Scramble, mixing throughout vegetables.
  • Rice, chicken, and soy sauce added to vegetables.

    Add rice, chicken or shrimp (or both), and soy sauce to the pan.
  • Stirring to combine all ingredients.
