Slow Cooker Mississippi Roast

Don't let the butter scare you! This roast was so delicious and moist. It has become a family favorite. You can make a side dish of mash potatoes or rice. There is plenty of juice!


chuck roast
1 pkg
hidden valley ranch dressing mix
1 pkg
mccormick au jus mix
1 stick
pepperoncini peppers

Directions Step-By-Step

Place chuck roast in crock pot.
Sprinkle dry Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix, add packet of dry McCormick Au Jus mix, a stick of butter and 5 pepperoncini peppers. DO NOT ADD WATER!
Cook on low 7-8 hours.

Dear Fontanelle, I suppose you used salted butter and probably HVRanch marinade instead of salad dressing...No wonder it was salty... Try it again.... It is a great recipe just read the reviews....and good luck!

We've always made chuck roast with Mild Banana Peppers, some of the juice, onion, garlic, celery, carrot etc. But we thought we'd try this, its not nearly as good but still acceptable. This recipe how ever is laden with salt, if you don't have CHF you will after having this a few times. Firstly the butter is overkill, use a smaller amount and half the ranch mix and Au Jus and I prefer "Johnny's" brand it's a iiquid Au Jus and much better. When we cut down on the salty ingredients and the butter and could actually taste the meat it was much better. Otherwise just eat a shaker of salt and save some money and time. This snarky know but the recipe was just too unhealthy and not very good as it originally was.

I made this recipe a few months ago and have since made it again. My family raved and ate it gone. I usually have left overs but the kids went back for more and more, even those that are a bit picky about meat. Excellent and easy to make. Loved it!
