Sauce Pot Meat Balls

Mary Boteilho

This is an oldie but goodie. My Mom served this when I was small and I just turned 65....Recipe is likely over 60 years old.

Stove Top

1 package dry onion soup mix
1 1/4 cups water
2 - 8 oz cans tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 lb ground beef, or turkey
wide egg noodles or rice

1In a pot, bring onion soup mix, water and 1 1/2 cans tomato sauce to a boil. Simmer covered for 10 minutes.
2Mix ground beef or turkey, seasonings and remaining 1/2 can tomato sauce.
3Shape into meatballs and place in tomato sauce mixture. Simmer gently, uncovered for 25 minutes, turning meatballs occasionally.
4My mom served this over wide egg noodles or you can serve over rice. We usually had green beans, a salad and hot sourdough bread. Brings back memories as I write this.
