A good, good for you, easy Steak recipe.
Make sure you use a big enough skillet or pot (I didn't)!

2 lb
top sirloin tip, thin sliced
sweet onion, sliced
2 c
mushrooms, sliced
3 c
beef stock, unsalted (if store bought, lower sodium)
1/2 c
butter, unsalted
1/2 c
olive oil
1/2 tsp
ea. of black pepper, granulated garlic, and granulated onion to season steak
pinch of course sea salt
whole wheat sub buns, halved and toasted
1 tsp
kitchen bouquet


Step 1 Direction Photo

1Saute onions & mushrooms in olive oil till tender. Remove from pan, season & flour steak, brown on both sides, you may need to add a little more olive oil. Remove from pan.

2Melt 1 stick of butter, add 1/2 c of flour, and salt cook for about 5 min. on low, do not let flour burn. Add beef stock, mixing well and cook till thickened. Return mushrooms, onions and steak back to pot. Simmer about 10 min. Add more liquid (water or stock) if gravy gets too thick. TIP: by adding Kitchen Bouquet you will get a much deeper color to your gravy.

3Split sub buns in half, toast, serve meat, and onion mushroom gravy on top.
