My mom found this recipe when I was a kid and I absolutely loved it. What is great about this dish is that you can really get creative and add to this wonderful basic recipe, (i.e. vegetables and other seasonings), and make it yours.
Lightly grease a 9x13 pan (or two pie pans) and set oven temperature to 400 degrees.
Cook and drain ground beef. Add onion soup mix and 3/4 cup of water, let simmer until liquid is gone.
In a separate pan, caramelize onions and add to hamburger mix.
In a mixing bowl add salt, pepper, milk, eggs and bisquick mix. Beat until batter is evenly mixed.
Take the hamburger mix and the shredded cheese to make two layers in your pan. Make sure there is a layer of cheese on top. Next, evenly pour the bisquick batter over the top of the hamburger and cheese layers.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees and let cook for 30 minutes.
