Can you still add your potatoes and carrots to this recipe?

I originally saw this recipe on Facebook and wanted to give it a try. But I forgot the dry ranch packet last night and already started and realized what I missed. Has anyone ever just used the au jus gravy and butter? If so, how did it come out?
