lee’s favorite meatball’s

This is my husband’s favorite meatball recipe. It’s so easy to make, but the results are great. I didn’t forget to add the salt. The Montreal steak seasoning adds plenty. Baking them helps keep them together. Frying after baking them gives the meatballs a nice brown crust. Substitute ground Italian sausage for half of the ground beef for a bit of a kick. The cooked meatballs freeze well.

  • 2+ lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 1/4 c
    italian cheese, shredded
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 Tbsp
    italian seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp
    montreal steak seasoning
  • 1 tsp
    white pepper
  • 2 c
    planko italian breadcrumbs
  • 1 c
    water
  • olive oil for frying

How To Make lee’s favorite meatball’s

  • 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • 2
Mix the ground beef (and Italian sausage if you use it), eggs, Italian seasoning, Montreal steak seasoning, and white pepper in a large bowl using your clean hands.
  • 3
Add the breadcrumbs and about half of the water. Mix with your hands, adding more water to get everything incorporated but not making the mix too loose.
  • 4
I use an ice cream scoop to measure the meatballs, about 3/4 of a scoop is perfect.
  • 5
Roll your meatballs and place on a parchment paper covered cookie sheet.
  • 6
    Bake for 30 min.
  • 7
Immediately transfer to hot olive oil in a large frying skillet and fry until the meatballs are nice and brown. You will need to do this in a few batches.
  • 8
    Drain on paper towels.
  • 9
Add to your favorite sauce and let it all simmer. Serve over pasta.
