I saw Rachel Ray making a hamburger shepards pie last week and thought that is something I can also do with my Hamburger Stear recipe.
panko bread crumbs
15 oz size of vegie mix without the potatoes
sweet oinion, sliced
olive oil, extra virgin, enough to cover bottom of pan
salt and pepper to taste
MASH POTATOES AND LARGE HAMBURGER BUNS
1HAMBURGER STEAK: In a large mixing bowl put in the hamburger and egg. Mix egg in good. Add all the ingredients except vegetable blend. Mix good then add vegies and mix well.
Patty up about 4 patties or the way you want them to be in size. Broil or grill till done on both sides and center.
2Mash your potatoes and add garlic and chives and set aside
3Gravy: Place olive oil in a large skillet and let get hot then add in onions, mushrooms and grate the garlic over this and simmer till tender. Salt and pepper to taste and add italian season. Spinkle with the flour and stir like a paste. Add the wine and then the cream. Stir well and add in the beef broth. Cook till thick if you need to make thicker then add a little more flour but not directly in the gravy because it will lump but add with the broth and then to the gravy. Set aside
4Bun: Toast the buns and remove and butter the buttom and sprinkle with garlic powder. I used all the buns upside down for the top one but used them all.
5Place the bun down on a cookie sheet with the steak burger on top, then add a scoop of mashed potatoes and place under the broil about 5 minutes on low and place the rack low. Keep an eye on it so not to burn.
6Remove from the oven and pour over the gravy.
Now ready to eat your Hamburger Steak Shepards Pie.
