I know these have to be the worst thing in the world for you to eat, but this was how my mom made hamburgers when I was growing up, before the low fat craze, obviously. You may want to buy a lower percentage of fat hamburger meat to make these with. They do tend to get messy. Obviously we eat these very rarely, but I like them sometimes. This recipe is over 50 years old.
Preheat broiler and prepare broiler pan by covering with foil.
Mix all ingredients well, except buns. Take about 1/4 of mixture and spread over the bottom of a hamburger bun. Repeat until all meat is used. Put under broiler and cook until the meat is done. Put a slice of cheese on top and the bun top to the side and replace under broiler to toast.
Serve topped with lettuce, tomato, whatever you normally put on a hamburger. Eat, don't think about the fat, enjoy.
