Fix It and Forget It Salisbury Steak w/Onion Gravy
|1 lb||ground beef (or other choice of ground meat if you prefer)|
|1/2 c||panko bread crumbs (i used unseasoned, seasoned would also be good)|
|3 to 4 Tbsp||onion, chopped|
|1/2 tsp||italian seasoning|
|salt and pepper to taste|
|1/2 c||all purpose flour (for dredging)|
|2 to 3 Tbsp||olive oil (or vegetable oil)|
|1/2 sm||onion, sliced|
|1||(4-oz) can mushrooms stems and pieces, drained|
|1 can(s)||cream of mushroom soup|
|1 c||beef broth|
|1/8 c||red wine, optional|
|1/4 c||heavy cream|
|1 pkg||onion gravy mix (i used frenches)|
|1 to 2 tsp||minced garlic (i used the jarred garlic)|

DirectionsCombine meat, egg, bread crumbs, onion, salt & pepper. Form 4 patties. Dredge patties in flour (that has been seasoned with salt and pepper).Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Brown patties on both sides.Place patties in bottom of slow cooker, overlapping if necessary. Place mushrooms and sliced onions on top of patties.In a medium bowl or large measuring cup; mix cream of mushroom soup, broth, wine, cream, garlic, onion gravy mix and add'l salt and pepper to taste. Pour gravy mixture over meat patties. (add salt and pepper to taste)Cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours.
Serve over mashed potatoes, egg noodles or rice.
