Diane Hopson's Notes:

As spring approaches and more time is required in the garden, I'm loving the idea of "Fix-It and Forget-It" slow cooker meals!

This dish, while making it, I did not realize it, was very much inspired from Jamie Beecham's "Jamie's Hamburger Steak and Gravy", (one or our favorite dishes).

I love utilizing the slow cooker! Not only does the slow cooker make life easier but you can cook some pretty tasty meals in it!

Directions

1
Combine meat, egg, bread crumbs, onion, salt & pepper. Form 4 patties. Dredge patties in flour (that has been seasoned with salt and pepper).
2
Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Brown patties on both sides.
3
Place patties in bottom of slow cooker, overlapping if necessary. Place mushrooms and sliced onions on top of patties.
4
In a medium bowl or large measuring cup; mix cream of mushroom soup, broth, wine, cream, garlic, onion gravy mix and add'l salt and pepper to taste. Pour gravy mixture over meat patties. (add salt and pepper to taste)
5
Cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours.

Serve over mashed potatoes, egg noodles or rice.

Jamie your recipe took my plain old blah salisbury steak to a new level. As I started putting it together today, some of the ingredient you put in your Hamburger Steak kept coming to mind! The italian seasoing and cream in the gravy and wine! Yep you inspired me to step mine up a bit...Thank you my friend!
