When cooked in the slow cooker, cube steak is fork-tender. I love to start this in the morning and it's ready for dinner.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Marcia is right, the Crock Pot makes this cubed steak so tender. Cube steak is an inexpensive cut of meat. Perfect when you're trying to prepare a cost-saving dinner. Fresh mushrooms and onions add savory flavor to the thick gravy. Serve this super easy and hearty dinner with mashed potatoes and a fresh veggie for a fantastic supper.

How To Make crock pot cubed steak

  • Coating cubed steak in flour.
    1
Heat enough oil in a frying pan to brown steaks. Salt and pepper the steaks. Coat all pieces in flour.
  • Frying cubed steaks in a skillet.
    2
Brown each steak on both sides then put in the Crock Pot.
  • Cubed steak, mushrooms, and onions in a slow cooker.
    3
When done browning steaks, saute onion in the frying pan and add to Crock Pot. Add mushrooms now too.
  • Beef base and water mixed together.
    4
Put about a good tablespoon of beef base in about 4 cups of water, along with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Pouring liquid into the slow cooker.
    5
Add this to Crock Pot, making sure you have enough liquid to cover steaks well. Turn on low and let cook for 4-6 hours until fork-tender.
  • Corn starch and slow cooker liquid simmering for a gravy.
    6
I like to remove out about 2-3 cups of the liquid and put in saucepan heat on stovetop until hot. Mix corn starch with about a cup of water and add slowly to beef liquid and stir, stir, stir until thickened. Add this to the cube steak in the slow cooker and turn up on high for about the last 30-40 minutes and allow to thicken.
