Ingredients

1 lb
lean ground beef
1 Tbsp
butter
1
finely chopped onion
1
green pepper, diced
16 oz
kidney beans, rinsed and drained
16 oz
tomatoes, drained and diced
8 oz
tomato sauce
1
minced garlic clove
1 small
bay leaf
1/2 tsp
salt
1 tsp
pepper
1/4 tsp
cumin
1/4 tsp
dried basil
1/4 tsp
oregano, crushed
2-3 tsp
chili powder

Step-By-Step

1In a heavy pot melt butter.
2Crumble meat into pot.
3Cook a few minutes until meat is no longer pink.
4Remove.
5To the pot, add onion and pepper.
6Cook a few minutes, stirring, until vegetables are soft.
7Add meat.
8Stir to combine.
9Add remaining ingredients.
10Heat to a boil.
11Reduce heat.
12Cook, stirring occasionally, at least 45 minutes.
13Remove bay leaf.
14Serve immediately.
