Cheeseburger & Fries Soup

We saw a version of this on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, and thought we'd try our hand at our own version of what we'd seen.

Ingredients

1
onion, chopped
1/2 stick
butter
1 lb
browned ground beef, or 4-6 left over hamburgers chopped
1 bottle
beer
2 c
milk
flour & water slurry to thicken the soup
1
baked potato cut up in small chunks
1 jar(s)
cheese wiz
lettuce & tomato - opt.
salt & pepper to taste
ketchup

Directions Step-By-Step

Saute the onion in the butter.

When translucent, add the ground beef. Cook until completely browned.

Add the potato and heat through.

Deglaze the pan with the bottle of beer, and then simmer the meat mixture for about 5 mins.

Add the milk until bubbly, then add the Cheese Wiz, and melt it in.

Thicken as needed with the flour/water slurry and season as desired.

On the show, they added cut up lettuce and tomato, but my family liked it better without those items. The tomato was fine, but the lettuce can make it bitter.

Serve with ketchup swirled on top of the soup.
