Ingredients

3 / 4 lb
beef pot roast
2 Tbsp
shortening
1 lb
can tomatoes, cut up
1/4 c
wine vinegar
1/4 c
water
1 clove
garlic, minced
1 tsp
sugar
1 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
mixed pickling spices
1/4 tsp
pepper
1 tube(s)
refrigerated biscuits ( 10 biscuits )
1 Tbsp
snipped parsley

Directions Step-By-Step

Trim excess fat from roast.
In Dutch oven or large skillet, slowly brown meat on all sides in hot shortening

Add next 8 ingredients.
Cover; cook slowly 2 to 2 1/2 hours or till meat is tender.

Place biscuits on meat, sprinkle with parsley.
Cover tightly and steam for 15 minutes, or till "dumplings" are done.

Remove meat and dumplings to a warm platter.

Serve with gravy, if desired.
