The epitome of comfort food in my book! Wonderful served with whipped potatoes or even buttered noodles. A veggie and you have a meal fit for a king. I've never made them the same way twice. Always adding something. The family told me to remember exactly what I used this time as they want them again soon.

Enjoy!

Ingredients

2 lb
ground chuck
1 pkg
lipton onion soup mix
2
eggs
1/2 tsp
fresh ground pepper
1 Tbsp
a-1steak sauce
1 tsp
season salt
2 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1/2 c
italian bread crumbs
1/2 c
milk
1/4 c
olive oil - more if needed
3 Tbsp
butter, divided
2 lb
cleaned and sliced portabella mushrooms
2 clove
minced garlic
2 large
onions, thin sliced

GRAVY

2 Tbsp
butter
1/3 c
flour
2 c
beef broth
1 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp
kitchen bouquet
1 1/2 tsp
better than buillion beef paste or beef buillion
1 Tbsp
sherry ( optional )

Step-By-Step

1In a large bowl, crumble meat - to this add soup mix, salts, pepper, egg, crumbs, milk, A-1 steak sauce, worcestershire sauce and mix just until combined. Make into desired size patties.
2Preheat oven to 375 degree F. Grease a 9 x 13 baking dish.

In a large skillet, over med high heat add oil and 3 tablespoons butter. Once butter has melted into the oil, carefully add your burgers. Cook until browned well on each side.
3Place evenly into prepared dish.
4In the same skillet with juices, saute the mushrooms until starting to brown, add the garlic nowcand cook another minute or two.
5Spoon mushrooms over the burgers evenly.
6Melt 1 tablespoon butter in same skillet and cook onions until golden. Spoon over the mushrooms.

Preheat oven to 375 degree F.
7In a med bowl, whisk together broth, kitchen bouquet, worcestershire sauce and buillion.

To the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter and to this whisk in the flour, stirring constantly for at least 1 minute. To this slowly whisk in the broth mixture, making sure to smooth out any lumps. Stir in sherry if using. Cook until becomes a gravy thickness. Doesn't take but a minute.
8Pour this evenly over the steaks. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 40 - 45 minutes. Should be good and bubbly.
9Remove foil and serve while good and hot, along side of whipped potatoes or noodles. The rich, tasty gravy would be great with either.

Enjoy!
