- 2 Eggs (lightly beaten)
- 2/3 C Milk
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/4 C butter, margarine, shortening, or cooking oil
- 8 Slices firm textured white bread
1Beat eggs with milk and salt just to blend and place in a pie pan. Melt about 1/4 of the butter in a large heavy skillet. Quickly dip bread in egg mixture, turning to coat both sides well, then brown on each side in butter (add more butter to skillet as needed). Serve hot with honey, syrup, preserves, or tart jelly and a sprinkling of confectioners sugar.
