Espresso Coffee Soda
The quantities for a single serving are:
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 to 1 Tbsp espresso beans, coarsely ground
1 shot coffee liqueur
1 shot vodka
1 shot club soda

- shots coffee-flavored liqueur (kahlua or tia maria), well chilled
- shots vodka, well chilled

- club soda, well chilled
FOR A LARGE BATCH (8 SERVINGS):
1Combine the sugar and water in a medium saucepan, bring to a boil over high heat and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat, add the espresso beans, and let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
2Strain, cover and refrigerate until very cold, at least 2 hours.
3To make the sodas: Fill 8 tall glasses with ice cubes. Add about 1/4 cup of the espresso syrup to each glass. If desired, add a shot of coffee liqueur and vodka, and stir well.
4Fill with about a cup of club soda, and serve each soda with a straw.
