Mmmmm! What a different way to have eggnog. I can't wait to make this around Christmas (or before...heeheehee).

Ingredients For eggnog-ritas
- FOR THE CREME ANGLAISE:

2 c1/2 & 1/2
-
1/2whole nutmeg, crushed with a heavy pan
-
1vanilla bean, split lengthwise & seeds scraped out
-
6 lgegg yolks
-
1/2 csugar
- FOR THE COCKTAILS:
-
1/2 csugar
-
1/2 tspfreshly grated nutmeg
-
2 ozbrandy
-
2 ozrum
-
2 ozbourbon
How To Make eggnog-ritas

1CREME ANGLAISE: Combine the 1/2 & 1/2, crushed nutmeg & vanilla pod & seeds in a medium saucepan & bring just to a boil over medium heat. Remove from the heat & let steep 5 minutes.

2Whisk the egg yolks & sugar in a bowl. Slowly whisk in the warm 1/2 & 1/2 mixture, then pour the egg mixture into the saucepan & cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the creme anglaise just begins to thicken, about 10 minutes. Strain & refrigerate until cold, about 4 hours.

3COCKTAILS: Combine the sugar & ground nutmeg on a plate. Dip the rims of 8 martini glasses in water, then in the sugar mixture. Combine 1/2 C each of the creme anglasie, brandy, rum & bourbon in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well & strain into 4 glasses. Repeat to make 4 more cocktails.
