Rice Pudding

Ilo Rhines - this recipe comes from Great Grandma Ella Rowell. Some of the tings she cooked a lot of like "johnny cake", pumpkin pie and squash our Dad didn't care for, but the Rice Pudding remained a favorite. Grandma Jennie always brought it to Christmas dinners, summer picnics, etc.

Ingredients

1/2 c
rice (not instant)
1 qt
milk
1/2 tsp
salt
1/2 c
sugar
1/2 c
raisins
butter
nutmeg

Step-By-Step

1Mix and stir all ingredients until sugar is dissolved.
2Pour into buttered 9 x 9 pan.
3Sprinkle top with nutmeg. Dot top with butter.
4Bake for 1 hr (350 for 1/2 hr, 325 for 1/2 hr). Do not stir in oven.
