So Easy Banana-Caramel Pie

I recently obtained some Goodhousekeeping recipe books from 1958. I am enjoying them tremendously! This is a recipe that is worth sharing. Hope you enjoy it too.

Ingredients

baked 8" pie shell
1/4 c
cold water
2
egg yolks
1/2 c
sugar
1/2 c
brown sugar
1/4 c
flour
1/4 tsp
salt
1 c
boiling water
1 Tbsp
butter
1/2 tsp
pure vanilla extract
3 or 4
ripe bananas
enough lemon juice to brush bananas
whipped cream

Directions Step-By-Step

In saucepan, mix cold water and egg yolks. Combine sugars, flour, and salt; stir into yolk mixture. Gradually add boiling water, stirring briskly. Cook, stirring, 3 to 5 minutes til smooth and thick.

Add butter and vanilla; cool 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour into baked pie shell. Refrigerate several hours.

Serve:
Slice bananas and brush with lemon juice. Arrange over pie filling. Spread whipped cream over all.
