Hi Shirley, did you ever get a chance to make this? Just wondering. Many diabetis in the family and they would appreciate something with less sugar than the original.

Thank you Shirley, Sorry to hear that you have that awful illness. Be sure to take good care of yourself, and, like many I know, we'll be just fine!

One thing I know for sure is that I have got to get with the program and stay with it till the end.I think the worse thing with the diabetes for Me is that if I don't get with it and stick to the change of eating habits I could end up blind and for a gal that loves to read that would just be the end for me. What diabetic recipes I have seen they look good to me and I suppose you could take any recipe and make it diabetic friendly. I have it in my head that my plate should be half veggies. meat the size of a card and small size rice or potato and sugar free desserts such as a pie should be 1/8th of a piece. So that means smaller portions of everything too.. My spoiled old tummy is going "OH NO"! LOL

Shirley, Hi, my name is Monica. I am 56yrs old and have been diagnosed with diabetes for about 10 yrs. For the first several yrs I did not follow program.....ANY PROGRAM that was a huge mistake. I was already very overweight and got heavier by denying my diabetes and eating whatever I wanted. I'm a good cook, but an even better baker and candy maker. I finally realized I was participating in my own death. I got an attitude change, and got on a good program. In a little over three years, I lost over 200lbs. I still have alot to go, but I'm taking things one day at a time. I will reach my long term goal! But more importantly, I DO reach my short term goal....everytime I stay on program for 1 more day!!! the program is easy. I'm using the American Diabetes Assoc Exchange Program. It is on one piece of paper. the front is the actual program information, and the back is examples of how much of what constitutes each type of exchange. I also wanted to let you know that Better Homes and Gardens has a Diabetic Cookbook out that makes it easy to follow program. Including desserts and Yummies!!!! VERY worth the money. Please let me know if I can help with info or resources or recipes. My email is Happy Cooking for Health
