Lemon Custard Pie

A neighbor gentleman gave me this recipe many years ago, and it is family favorited, tastes great and easy to make.

Ingredients

3
egg yolks (hold whites off to side)
1 1/2 c
sugar
1/4 c
fresh lemon juice
3 Tbsp
all purpose flour
1 Tbsp
butter (or margarine)
3
egg whites
1
unbaked pie shell

Directions Step-By-Step

Beat egg yolks

Add: sugar, lemon juice, flour and butter, stirring to blend

Beat egg whites till stiff, then fold into lemon mixture

Pour into unbaked pie crust (8 inch deep dish pie plate)

Bake slowly, 350 degrees, until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Check at 45 min...and keep checking every 10 min, till done. (each oven varies)

The top does get brown, but not overly brown...have you checked it with a knife? Some ovens vary quite a bit... If not you can cover with foil... to keep from too much browning :) Hope its ok ... Let me know :)

I have it in the oven now, i'll let you know. The top is really brown and it still has 15 minutes to go before it's done. There wasn't a picture so i'm not sure if it's supposed to be this dark or not. I'm sure it will taste good tho :)
