Sprinkle coconut on the bottom of the pie shell. (I toasted the coconut first.) Sprinkle nuts on top of the coconut covering the coconut well. Pull the oven rack out of the oven and place the pie shells on it. Stir mixture well one last time. Carefully pour pie mix into shells. Do not overfill. Slowly push oven rack back into the oven.
Bake 45 minutes in a 350 degree oven. For the last 15 minutes of baking time, cover the pie shell with aluminum foil to prevent the shells from burning. (Cover loosely with foil)
The amount of coconut you use depends upon your taste. You do not need to use all of the specified measurement, but do not go over it.
