The cake was a success! I definitely recommend serving over ice cream. It has a rich chocolate buttery taste. The texture is crunchy on top and gooey in the center. I did make a few changes. I substituted brown sugar for the topping because I ran out of white. I also made my own self rising flour= 1 cup flour, 1/2 tsp. of salt, 1 1/2 tsps. of baking powder. Sift together and makes 1 cup of self rising flour..........heavenly Thanks for sharing..8-)

Dear Erin, congratulations on this recipe! I have made it four times for my apartment building neighbors. They all say the same thing....."When will you be making this again?" I did experiment and cut back on the butter....just used one stick the last time I made it. It still came out wonderful and tasted just as decadent! We loooovvvve it!

This is one of the very best chocolate recipes I have ever put in my mouth! It is easy to make but tastes like you worked in the kitchen a while for this little number. I liked it with a side of vanilla ice cream but some liked it just as it was. Yummy!!

Mary - it is flour that has a leavening agent – baking powder – and salt added to it during packaging. Since the ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the flour, you will get the same nice lift to your baked goods every time you use it. Hope this helps.
