This is my cherry pie filling recipe that works for pies tarts, pie pops, pocket pies, or even just on ice cream. :-) Don't bother with the can...make your own! The pie in my photograph has a crumb topping.

Ingredients For cheery cherry pie

3 csour cherries (i use frozen)

2 csweet cherries (frozen or fresh)

3/4 csugar
-
1 pinchsalt
-
1/2 tspalmond extract

1/2 tsporange zest
-
1 Tbspfreshly squeezed orange juice

nutmeg (just a tiny sprinkle or grating if using fresh)

3 Tbspclearjel modified cornstarch or regular cornstarch

1 Tbspwater
How To Make cheery cherry pie

1Place cherries in a saucepan, cover and cook on low until cherries start to release their juices. Uncover.

2Add all ingredients besides cornstarch/ClearJel and cook on medium until mixture comes to a boil. Combine cornstarch/ClearJel and 1T water in a cup and stir into cherry mixture.

3Bring mixture to a boil and cook for 1-2 minutes stirring constantly until thickened.

4Pour into pie shell of your choice and bake in a double crust pie or add a crumb topping before baking. You can also fill a graham cracker crust shell.
