Ingredients

apples, granny smith peeled, cored, and sliced
1 c
sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp
cinnamon
1 tsp
vanilla extract
2 Tbsp
corn starch
2 c
all purpose flour
3/4 tsp
salt
2/3 c
butter flavor shortening
6-7 Tbsp
iced water
1 c
all purpose flour
1 Tbsp
cinnamon
1/2 c
butter, cold

Step-By-Step

1Peel, core, and slice apples. Splash with lemon juice.
2Add cinnamon, sugar, vanilla, and corn starch and set aside.
3Mix flour and salt. Cut shortening into flour and add water until a soft dough takes form. Set in refrigerator for half hour.
4Mix four, cinnamon, and butter until crumbly.
5Roll out dough to fit into an 8x11 casserole dish. Trim edges.
6Pour in apple filling and top with crumb mixture. Bake in a 350' oven for 1 hour or until juice are bubbling.
