This is my Mother's Mother's recipe. My grandma passed November 2006. I have many of her recipes. She did give several to her daughter in law, my Aunt. I'm glad!

Ingredients

1 c
sifted flour
3/4 c
sugar
1 1/2 tsp
cocoa powder
2 Tbsp
butter, melted
1/2 c
chopped nuts (important)
1/4 tsp
salt
1 tsp
baking powder
1/2 c
milk
1 tsp
vanilla extract

Directions Step-By-Step

Sift dry ingredients together, add milk, butter, vanilla & nuts.

Spread into 8 x 8 pan and pour over this batter; 1/2 c. white sugar, 1/2 brown sugar, 5 T. cocoa, 1 c. hot water, pinch of salt.

Bake 35 or 40 minutes at 325. Let cool in pan & serve bottom side up with whipped cream or ice cream.
